[Avid-L2] Ruminations on Titles

I was testing some workflow for moving AVID titles out of Media Composer to other formats. I have long used the feature in Title Tool that allows one to export a PICT frame that has an alpha. Unfortunately After Effects and Resolve don't like that format. (Working in 2018.12.5 on Win 10)

In Marquee one can manually render out frames through the Render menu, and you can change to other formats (like TIFF with alpha, which can be rendered 16 bit).

I looked around in the new Titler+ and could not find a direct way to export the title. I have two questions:

1) Is there an easy and direct way to export the titles created in the new Titler +?

2) Why has AVID refused to allow their previous titling solutions to work in higher than HD resolutions easily? I am guessing it was an agreement made with the New Blue folks to get them to include their base version with Media Composer.

You see, I recall working with Marquee in early beta on Media Illusion back in 2001 or so. It was not resolution limited at that time.

I also recently determined I can build UHD titles in Marquee, but it doesn't easily round trip like it does with HD and lower formats.

(Just Switch to HD, Launch Marquee, go into Title Preferences, select custom and manually set the resolution to 3840 x 2160, render out a Tiff with alpha, save the title to bin. [It will automatically down res it back to HD.] You can then disable the clip in the timeline (to have a copy you can edit later if needed. Then import your UHD tiff and cut it into your timeline, UHD title from Marquee. PITA I know, but Marquee doesn't have trouble making higher than HD titles, it has been restricted intentionally).
