Hi John, thanks for weighing-in. The only changes to third-party licensed technology I've heard about recently with Adobe was the relatively recent removal of support for Dolby AC3 encoding. There must be a lot more to the story than that, however, since some of the affected apps do not even process audio. I suspect there are also a number of video codec licensing issues as well, but I'm not sure what they are since Adobe has not provided any details.
Just one real-world example of how this affects us is with encoding of lossless JPEG2000 MXF's for archival delivery. We ended-up having to revert to Premiere and AME 2017 to produce proper deliverables since later versions of these apps have a bug which causes major gamma shifts in the encoded video.
It seems that every single time we finally figure-out a stable workflow for something the rug gets pulled out from under us.
