When you say, "(mixing down on export as needed)" what does this actually mean. Mixing Down the sequence then export op1a?
I've been banking on QTRef for a long time as it doesn't take up any additional storage but the end is near. I can still do it in AME 2015 at work for now.
So there are no legacy versions left that would support QTRef? I haven't looked at the specifics.
Seriously why can't Adobe and Dolby just get along? I suppose this is yet another case of big tech/software companies conspiring to find more ways to make John Moore's life unmanageable. I know they have board meetings specifically to F with John Moore. At least that's how it feels. ;-)

Media encoder hasn't liked QT reference for the last few versions. I've learned -from this group- that it's actually faster to export op1a (mixing down on export as needed) then throwing that into media encoder!

One of the things this means is no more using Media Encoder to transcode QuickTime Reference files.
