The latest High Sierra update disabled my nVidia based system today. On restart the "installation" failed, without warning or any means of "backing out." The system was unbootable, stopping at the failure message. This system uses a non-OEM card. This is a problem with prior full version upgrades that involved a firmware update, but I haven't had this problem with simple "updates" before.
The solution was to swap the nVidia card for the OEM video card. After the clean boot with the OEM card, the non-OEM card could be swapped back in and the system appears okay, at least for now.
However, the CUDA driver is disabled. As per a prior post, it seems that a CUDA update is not on offer. Apparently, the use of CUDA has ended sooner than I expected on Mac OS.
Cheers,
tod
