If the file contains the captioning data, MC will preserve it. The only files I've ever received that have captions have been OP1a MXF files. Just link and consolidate. 


MC 8 and later will display captions. Just right click in the composer window and click "show captions".  JB

 I just got a call from a fellow Avid editor.  He just imported a closed caption show that he originally cut to make some new edits.  The director is coming in to help make the cuts.  But they need to see the closed captioning.  I've never dealt with this myself.  So did the Avid bring that info in on import and if so, how can an editor see the closed captions?
