Hi All,
So with the computer in the rack in another room with all the boxes and
stuff (thinking Avid or Protools here) and the monitors in a nice quiet
room...... What are we all using to carry the signals from the good old
display port on the Mac Pro to monitors in another room. The HDMI port
is fine and will drive a nice long (10-20m) cable. But the display ports
lack the 'oompfh' to drive long cables via an adaptor. I.e can't pop a
15m VGA on the end of a display port adaptor.
I have, in the past, used a display port to VGA and then some powered
(at one end only, which is handy) VGA Cat 5 extenders for the two edit
screens and HDMI for the video monitor. But this will not work (well) on
the higher resolutions above 1920x1080. Plus throwing in USB extensions
for the mouse keyboard combinations.
Anyone got any other solutions, bank breaking or not.
Cheers,
Marcus
