We used a combination of tools, including a custom recovery service.
I considered r-studio, but there were some steps that I couldn't do safely. I may try it now that the card is available and we've already recovered what we can.
Aeroquartet.com was expensive, but recovered a file that none of the other software could find. I think they're doing surface scans of the card and just forcing temporary format on the data. You tell them what SHOULD be there.
Otherwise, it was a combination of cardrescue.com and grauonline.de, tricks picked up from another user's group.
None of the recovered files had audio in sync, most of them were recovered at the wrong frame rate, but that was all easy to fix, compared to loosing the material entirely.
exFat sucks.
