Sorry to be so late in answering, and haven't followed the full thread, but I have that camera. I also have MC 8.0.0 on a Mac -- I just AMA linked to a loose .MTS file, and transcoded it just fine.
If this is a one-off project, could you not use the trial version of MC 8 to link and transcode?
Or, if the files are less than 500GB I can share a Google drive folder with you. Upload them; I'll transcode to DNxHD145 for you and send them back.

I am pursuing third-party conversion software to see if that works. One candidate solution is Brorsoft's MTS/M2TS Converter. The free trial version embeds a watermark in the middle of the converted video, but the purchase price for the full version is quite reasonable.
