Re: [Avid-L2] Title tool question

Don't rule out the traditional new user, trash mcstate etc...  I've found in a few occasions trashing the .avs file, that IIRC is part of the project and lives in the project folder, has eliminated weird quirky behavior.  I have never had a limit problem like you describe.

I will say I've seen a bit of an uptick on quirks in the 8.6.X and above to 8.8.5.  I have no way of knowing but I feel in my gut when Avid started outsourcing parts of the software programming, or maybe more of the software development, there seem to be errors or oversights that seem indicative of people new to the software who haven't got the history with the product to foresee things like odd compatibility errors with wacom tablet.  I also find many of the supposed interface updates to be little more than superficial changes to move functions to new right click menus while removing them from the existing home leaving those with muscle memory scratching our heads.  If Smith Corona had the same philosophy the "E" key would be moved to a new place on the keyboard just cause.  Or better yet why have a keyboard at all just give us four soft keys with four scroll knobs.  That was sarcasm!!!  I don't want someone from the design group to jump on that idea for 2018.2  ;-(

Hi --

Thanks -- yeah, we're not using shortcuts -- we're using the dropdown window in the Styles pane of title tool.  We get to a certain number of "saves", and with the settings window open you can watch your new Style appear as the previous one disappears.  Different named styles, so it looks as if it's overwriting the position in the window, not revising the style itself, which is why I thought there might be a limit.

We were able to take a roundabout way of beating the system -- we opened a new settings window, dragged the previous styles there, deleted them from the project's setting window, saved new ones 3 at a time, dragged them into the new window, and then when we were done, we dragged them all from the new settings window back into the project window without losing any.

But that is WAAAY too much effort and workaround.

There has to be a better way...   (restarting didn't work...)

Could there be the function key setting for the keyboard shortcut assigned to the particular style over righting the style?  If there is already a style with the same F Key shortcut assigned IIRC there will be a prompt that that number is already in use and would you like to assign a different number.  I think it even makes a suggestion as to an available number.

This didn't sound like what you are experiencing but worth asking.  You can see the title styles in the settings window and you don't have to assign an F key shortcut if you don't want to in my experience.

Hi All --
Is there a limit to the amount of "styles" that can be saved in Title Tool?
I can only seem to save 3, while the editor in the next room can only save 2.  When we try to save an additional style, it saves the new one but knocks out one of the previously saved styles.
....and if there is a limit, is there a way to increase or change it?  (Why can I save 3 and my buddy only 2?)
We're both running Avid MC 8.4.5 --
Thanks!
