Re: [Avid-L2] Sapphire question

I'm in this same predicament. Boris RED is my go-to for animating stills. I also use it regularly for simple compositing within the MC timeline. The last few MC updates have made it flaky, but I still rely on it. I'm interested to hear what solutions may be available.

Thanks,
David

My employer is looking for solutions to the upcoming EOL of Boris RED for Avid AVX.  We rely heavily on RED in our shows, but one of the most frequent uses is for still image manipulation.  I'm not a fan of StageTools Moving Picture due to it's lack of true X and Y rotation.  Avid Pan and Zoom is horrible. BCC Pan and Zoom seems like the best alternative at this point, but I wanted to see if Sapphire had a similar effect that might work for us.  I've been away from Sapphire for quite a few years (not by my choice, I loved it), so I'm not sure what new effects may have been added since then.  I remember taking a user survey gauging interest in a Pan and Zoom type effect, but don't know if it was ever implemented.  I haven't seen anything searching the Boris/GenArts website.

Also open to other suggestions as well.

Thanks,
