So as I explore the links I shared yesterday and the Arri LUT generator it seems given the greyed out parameters in the ON SET TAB the Arri camera will always deliver LogC encoded material at Legal levels and that this is always normalized and not photometric which would allow Knee and Shoulder adjustments.
The pop up info on the LUT generator says Normalized will scale darkest and lightest possible camera values to the same range no matter what the Exposure Index. Photometric will preserve exposure dependent range between darkest and lightest possible camera exposure. For the ON SET TAB the only choice is normalized but in the POST Production TAB either choice is allowed.
Can someone explain what this means? I read in the article the photometric will allow for knee and shoulder adjustment. The darkest and lightest possible camera values in legal range would be 64 to 940 as far as I know. Where does exposure index come into the picture? What is the difference between possible camera values and possible camera exposure? I would think values are the 64 to 940 in legal or 0 to 1023 in Full Range/Extended Range. I am very confused.
