Right, yes, I very much forgot to mention the project sharing.  True preemptive file/bin locking to restrict access by others and help prevent accidental overwrite.

AvidFS is Avid's file system for their storage products - i.e. Isis and Unity. 

 

When Avid MC detects the file system it automatically switches the project and media creation in sharing mode. Each edit bay creates their own project settings. Bin locking becomes active. And media folders have ownership based on computer host name. 

 

Careful with NAS. They tend to have high latency when compared to dedicated video storage servers.
