[Avid-L2] Strange Audio Issue with multigroups.

MCv8.8.5 Win7 HPZ800. I'm having some weird behavior with audio levels on multigrouped clips. I am unable to change the audio levels on the multigrouped tracks. When I move the fader or type in a value to the level window, the level snaps back to zero. If I match back to the individual group, I can set the levels without any trouble.
The same thing is happening if I try to change the source within a grouped track. I select one of the mics, but the group doesn't change.
I've tried all the usual fixes (trashed mc state, new user settings, etc.), but the problem persists.
Before I resort to a clean install, has anyone else seen this? I don't remember it working like that on 8.7.  Any help greatly appreciated.
If you look on the Avid Editors of Facebook group, I've posted a video showing what I mean.

Thanks,
