Excellent tip, but the thing is: still 'kicks' out the effect, meaning that any repositioning caused by the stabilization up to that point is reset instantly (whereas I'd like to ease out of that).
That said, I changed the effect to a Correlation tracker, tracked one part of the shot, then set a new tracker region, and set that to track the burnins in the image (leaving the image unaltered).

I haven't tried it personally, but the Stabilize just adds a Fluidtracker, so if you go into the tracking window, add a cut in the tracking timeline (right-click, Add Region) and delete the newly created region (right-click, delete region), the tracker should stabilize up to that point, and afterwards it shouldn't do anything while keeping size/framing.Bye,Christian
