For my biggest client, cutting on a PC-based Avid, we use Sorenson. Right-clicking the record window brings up a "Send to" menu with Sorenson as an option. I've got that option set to automatically open Sorenson and load the cut (it creates the QT reference file in the background,) so all I do is pick the compression and wait for my mp4 review file. I then send the file via e-mail to the concerned parties for review. (These are generally promos, so they end up in the 4-7 mb range.)
For my second biggest client, cutting on a Mac-based Premiere, I used to output a QT and then manually load it into Encore. They've got different presets programmed, so I picked the one I needed and created either review or final files.
They've just installed Sorenson, so we're using that now. I still export the QT through Premiere and manually load the file, and then pick the compression.
For the record, both Encore and Sorenson have been programmed to automatically upload the newly created files to their final destination -- either an online review file folder, or many different client folders -- final files with opens, closes, and watermarks automatically added.
I have no preference between either one -- they're both easy to use and yield good looking files. However, since I wasn't involved in the programming, I can't comment on the ease or difficulty of preprogramming either application.
Hope this helps --

Subject: [Avid-L2] Favorite mac encoder these days?
It has been awhile since I last checked out the options for encoding.
I tend to export a QT Reference and then encode outside the AVID.
Assuming Mac only, any opinions on Squeeze vs Compresser vs Adobe Media
Encoder (vs Handbrake or anything else?)
Mostly I am making screeners of cuts from a 10.10.5 Mid-2014 MBP to post
for client review.
Thanks for any advice!
Dan
