i don't know the official answer... but we have nitris dx attached to both trashcans and older mac pros... and i actually think the older macs work smoother and we have much less problems.
we NEVER input or output to tape anymore... so I can't see any justification to get Avid hardware anymore
i just need a decent card to power my broadcast monitor in SDI... and my client monitor HDMI... and the ability to cross-convert resolution and frame rate.
I'm thinking AJA is the way to go... had really good experience with them.
