We have a mix of newer and older systems. All the MacPro6,1 are using DNxIO boxes. All the MacPro5,1 and MacPro4,1 are using Nitris. I have not tried a MacPro6,1 with an expansion chassis using a Nitris. And I have not tried a MacPro6,1 in a no hardware setup. Most of our systems are connected to an ISIS. We've had a MacPro6,1 as a standalone using local storage and DNxIO. A majority of the flakiness and MC crashes seem to be associated with heavy sequences. Ones that are longer, lots of video and audio tracks with a lot of effects and volume mapping. Much of the time it happens in trim mode or not long after begin in trim mode. I can not force replicate the crash. And also there are crashes that occur at times with lighter sequences and not connected to trim mode at all. And I'm not saying that the older MacPros don't ever have crashes, they do, but seemingly way less frequent. We're talking MacPro6,1 seem daily, or nearly so, while the older MacPros are more like weekly. On the newer MacPros I've only run v8.7.2, v8.8.0, v8.8.1, v8.8.3. I have tried these on OS X 10.11.6 and 10.12.x. I have not tried v8.6.5.

Jay mentioned in the Thunderbolt thread that they have trouble with trashcans. Is there consensus on that, or is it just him (Or all the ones that are on ISIS, or old versions)?I have no intention to get one, but I have a client that needs an upgrade and wants to stay on Mac, and the new machines are far away and expensive.
