Depends what you mean by "eating into... Avid shops." I run a small operation in Boston (5 MC seats) focused on offline for long-form public television programs. I've been an Avid user since 1993 & it's still my primary editing platform, but the entire Adobe suite (including Premiere) has become an essential toolbox for ancillary tasks. So for me, Premiere hasn't displaced MC, but it's secured a position alongside it.
