[Avid-L2] Re: Avid- Background services- transcode error

I don't think this relates to your issue but in the past I've found if I have source LUTs the background transcode goes wonky.  It does do the transcode but the result is whacked video.  The same transcode in the foreground works fine.  Avid has confirmed the bug that I found back on 8.4.x.  I have never heard that it was fixed but I've only worked on 8.5.3 for quite a while.

I sure hope the later versions have fixed this but I doubt it as most of the updates seem more focused on moving functions to different places to make things more efficient.  You know like how Smith Corona use to move the "E" key on the typewriter every year just to show innovation.  ;-)

Oh wait the Six Million Dollar Man just came on Antenna TV, gotta go.

Hello,

I'm using the latest version of Avid (8.4) and been trying to transcode using background rendering, but it fails and an error message says it is unable to provide sample. I can transcode without it running on the background, but then I can't do other work in Avid while this happens.

Thoughts on how I can solve this?

- background services are running
- drives are formatted correctly
- everything AMA linked plays fine
- tried transcoding to both DNxHD and DNxHR (both failed)
- frame rate is the same as project frame rate
