Quicktime plugin for browsers is discontinued, but the normal QT platform is still fully supported by Apple (and probably required by law.).
However, Apple sees to 'want/desire' to move people away from it.
Get a PC, install QT, and be happy to have a machine that outperforms a Mac by 400% compared to cost.
