As was suggested to me just last week. Get the Catalyst Browser software, free from Sony. That will let you determine exactly what the camera shot. I'm betting XAVC S as that seems to be the highest quality codec to get media from the Sony DSLR cams and perhaps other models too. You can transcode to an Avid friendly Codec like ProRes or XAVC-I and I believe XDCam50.
I used Adobe media encoder to make OP1A files of DNX-175X media that I then ama'd and transcoded to make OP Atom files like Avid likes. I couldn't consolidate in my case because I had to back in a Sony S3 Lut for offline on earlier Avid versions.

Is there anyway to AMA media that is in M4ROOT folders. I have a client who sent a drive with a 5 camera shoot. 2 cameras are Sony's Prosumer of some kind and they produce folders called M4ROOT. Seems like in the past, according to archives, Sony did not provide an AMA plug in for this. But that was 2015. Does anyone know of how to AMA this media? Is it folder structure. Do I need a top level folder? Of course Premier takes it no problem so that is a workaround but would be great if Avid could be as welcoming to various media as Premier is.
Thanks
