I'm working on a telethon show and one of the pieces was shot incredibly well. That's right no sarcasm the crew did a great job and the footage was a joy to work with. Then after finishing it I was informed they wanted the piece to look bleak like the town was struggling. Oh well a little desat and contrast and sort pull down the reds and that should be something. But then I looked into Sapphire and there it was in the Film Effect. The Preset "Winters Grip", how could I resist? It was a bit heavy handed but dropping the setup and raising the gain and a few twiddles and voila I've made Bleaktopia.
The funny thing was a hint I found on the saturation parameter. It said said. "The lower the saturation, the greater the donations!!!" Yes this part is sarcasm but when I finally get some really nice looking footage I have to bleak it out to pull on heart strings. Maybe I'll get a Tshirt made.
