I'd say convenience related to genlock sources, on set monitoring and especially light flicker consideration should tip the scale towards a 25FPS shoot. You'll have to slowdown to 23.98FPS frame for frame for video, with separate audio timewarp and pitch correction for audio.

I will be working on a show that is having some material shot in the UK.  The UK folks will also be using the material locally so they want to shoot 25Fps.

I would prefer they shoot 23.976 so I can integrate it painlessly into my 59.94I broadcast show in the US.

Am I wrong to tell them they should shoot in 23.976 and convert to 25 for their needs?  I would think the slight speed up would be much less problematic than me having to take 25Fps back into a 23.976 or 59.94 project in Avid.  25Fps into 59.94 would seem to be asking for frame jumps/skips and 25Fps to 23.976 is going to have to drop a frame every second which would also be steppy.  Perhaps not as bad 29.97i back to 23.976P but still I would think it would be jumpy.

If they do shoot 25 depending on the material is it okay to let Avid add motion adapters after capturing in a 25Fps project?  Or should we plan on converting the material before bringing it into Avid?  I assume they will be shooting 25P which I think will be less problematic than interlace material.

Any suggestions welcome but I really think the UK folks should shoot 23.976.  Would that frame rate cause them undo issues with light flicker?  TIA
