Re: [Avid-L2] can't export timeline

You can try resetting all settings. for example:

1. Look for the Settings folder within Media Composer and delete the following: MCState, Site Settings.xml and Site_Attributes. These files will rebuild when you start up MC again.
2. Create a new Project and transfer your bins.
3. Create a new User Setting.

If this doesn't work, try the divide & conquer method. Good luck. I hope it was helpful.

It sounds like your problem is more likely to be system-related, unfortunately.
But if you ever do get it loaded up again, you could try marking only the latter half of the sequence and try exporting that - if it works, then maybe there is a problem with the very first clip.

Well when I was able to be in composer, it happens immediately when I select export from the menu.  It never goes beyond that.  Drop menu, select export to file, crash.
But now I can't open Composer at all so troubleshooting that problem is not possible.

Does the crash happen at the same place (on the progress bar) every time you export or mixdown?
If so, have you tried to 'divide and conquer'? (i.e. export/mixdown only sections of your timeline until you narrow it down to the clip(s) that are causing the crash.)

After humming along for years I've been having the most incredible computer problems I've ever encountered. And all while working on deadlines . First, the HDOne dies, then the replacement HDOne dies, then I start getting kernel panics on start up. I upgrade MC to latest and get lots of spinning balls and now, after hobbling along today to get this done for client…I can't export. I crash every time. I did a mix down of video and still crashed. Ran all the diagnostics which I do now 4 times a day, and drive seems fine. Avid also crashes on boot up first time. Second time the app opens. I have an new user in Avid and on my boot drive. Still can't export.

desperate for suggestions. I need to get this timeline out.

thanks
