Lou, considering what you described, I would source another "cheese grater" Mac Pro, so that you won't have to replace the rest of your equipment. I don't think there's a point in buying a Trashcan as it's not the most future proof machine - it's a 4 years old machine after all.
Get a 2009-2012, and if you can afford it, up the ram, the gpu and the cpu.
