You don't ingest interlaced footage into a progressive project. You risk MC not know its interlaced and yes you will see interlace artefacts but MC won't correct them.
You switch project format to interlaced. Ingest footage. Confirm field order correct. Switch project back to Progressive. MC adds a motion adapter that you can modify to deal with the interlaced content as progressive. Mix down or export and you just have progressive.
