RE: [Avid-L2] Does (should) my Nitris DX support 3D?

Most 3D functions work with any Nitris DX, even with the hardware codecs disabled. You need the second codec board if you want to capture full-frame 3D in one pass (otherwise it is possible to capture one eye at a time in two passes). I don't think there is anything else you actually need it for, although it might give you better performance in some situations.

Are you sure?  Because when I do a google search for

nitris dx 3d

I get a bunch of things that talk about there being two slots available for cards in a Nitris DX box and that you can optionally buy and instal a second card for 3D.

and if you do a search for 9900-65192-00 what you get is a bunch of links to purchasing the optional 3D module card.

I believe all Nitris DX boxes support 3D -- full frame and the various other flavors (side-by-side, etc.)

I'm not sure what that means.  So other than getting a 3D TV and and playing back 3D footage, is there a way to tell if the Nitris DX box I have is supposed to support 3D?  Is there a way by looking at the Nitris DX box that i can tell?

Thanks,
Jay
