RED Weapon RAW 8K plays smoothly (no transcoding; better performance; Rec 2020 gamut) in FCPX 10.3 on my 2013 MacBookPro, so I would think that the new MBP will do fine with 4k or 5k.

UHD real time on the new laptops works really great in Final Cut Pro X. Smooth as butter. Can't say how other NLEs perform.

Think the new MacBook Pros will be to do any heavy lifting for video pros?  Like UHD in real-time? With only 2gb of VRAM on the Radeon 460, my hunch is no.  It's sad to see Apple give up (yet again) on the professional market.
