If you want to stick with Premiere, it transcodes quite a bit faster to Avid DNX MXF than QuickTime, in my experience.  You can then consolidate them into Avid (MXF AMA plugin)

I was wondering if anyone has a smooth workflow to input footage from Sony A7S cameras. I use Premiere to convert to Pro Res (Avid won't AMA or import originals) but its a slow process. I think Windows users have a converter they use. Anyone on Mac work with this footage much and have a system? I'm shooting on Thursday with this camera and will have a bunch of stuff to input.
