I found a few old threads that proposed various solutions but the one that worked for me was to get rid of the data track from the AMA file.
To do this. AMA link to the files. Then unlink the files using the unlink command. (In 8.5 Right click on the clips goto modify clip/unlink on older versions I think it was Ctrl/Shift Clip to get to the unlink mode). Once unlinked go to the modify clip/tracks menu and untick the data track. Then relink to your AMA files and they should link without the data track enabled. They should now consolidate/transcode. This worked for me on about 200 dodgy clips. Try it on one clip 1st - if it works you can do it on all the rest.the data track is only used for closed captions so shouldn't be a problem to lose it.Nick
