I believe what you are looking for is 'M-DISC' I actually just bought a new LG Blu-ray burner myself.. that can burn normal discs.. and also M-DISC's. Haven't had a chance to try them yet. They are obviously more expensive.. but I do like the idea of knowing that the data on the disc will be readable for as long as I will likely need it (assuming I keep a working Blu-ray drive on the ready).
Maybe someone can let us know if they have any experience with M-DISC (although it does sound pretty straightforward).
