While Media Composer 8.6.2 includes several bug fixes, customers are instructed to uninstall any previous version of Media Composer prior to installing the v8.6.2 update. Please refer to the ReadMe for more information.
Issue: There is an issue with the new Media Composer v8.6.2 Installer. This is an issue with just the normal installer, no Application Manager needed. If a customer downloads MC 8.6.2 from Avid.com and tries to install it on top of MC v8.6.1, they will see a crash on launch of Media Composer.
Workaround: Manually uninstall Media Composer and re-install Media Composer v8.6.2.
Reason: While Application Manager streamlines the download and installation process, customers updating via AppMan are more likely to encounter this crash. This is a Media Composer v8.6.2 installer issue. In previous releases you are capable of running a Media Composer Full Installer on top of a previous version with no issues, this is a bug/issue that has cropped up with Media Composer v8.6.2 specifically.
