Re: [Avid-L2] Re: XDCAM EX codec for .mov

Guys --

I always admit to being "tech-lite,"  but maybe this will help:

For a giggle and a half, I opened up MPEG Streamclip and loaded a clip.  I chose Export > Export to Quicktime...  and saw what I think is the option you need -- Apple XDCAM EX 1080i (35 Mb/x VBR) -- and the exporter window allows you to choose upper frame first and the sound options (although I didn't see Linear PCM...)

I'm on a Mac;  I don't know which of these options go away on a PC (or if Streamclip itself is Mac only...?  And I'm using version 1.9.3b2 circa 2009 -- is there a later one that will accomodate Linear PCM...?)  but maybe it'd be worth further research...

Good luck.

How about exporting as XDCAM EX in an mxf wrapper then use VLC to re wrap.
VLC has the option to change the wrapper but retain the codec. You need to set both video and audio to be passed through.
