Re: [Avid-L2] Fusion 8.1 (free) with Avid Connect officially supported

Since installing it I can't get MC to launch.   Grrrr.

Even after uninstalling it.

Will report back.

I can confirm that this 'works' (i.e. FusionConnect.avx installs correctly and loads into Avid 8.5.x on OSX El Cap.)

So far I cannot confirm that it actually does work (as in getting Fusion 8.1 to actually load exported frames from Avid automatically). What I can confirm is that I can make it crash spectacularly in trying. Might just be El Capitan.

Nice move from BM. Now they need a customer advocate to give sense to this cryptic thing.

You don't need the dongle, Avid's DNxIO box or the paid version of Fusion (Studio) to get hold of the Connect plugin - it's available for free from Blackmagic's support section. This was the case with version 8, but it was never officially stated that the free version of Fusion would work with the AVX plugin - that's what's changed with the release of version 8.1.

To quote the 'latest news' on the web site....

"Fusion 8.1 Update! Adds Fusion Connect for Avid so you can create VFX and motion graphics from your Avid timeline for free! Download now!"
