First off I don't think that post was about you. There seems to be a spam bot making robot responses. Your second question is very valid. Adobe Media Encoder I have. Sorenson I don't think I have at work. I say I don't think because I'm pretty sure we upgraded to Symphony 6.5 with a Production Bundle so I bet I have a serial number related to that for whatever current version of Sorenson there was back then.
I'm using AME because I found it could add pulldown to DNX 175X files in the past. Because we have adopted a 23.976 workflow I am now facing the challenge of adding Pulldown to deliver a 59.94I file. Adding to the challenge is the sequence has 16 tracks of audio and it includes mixed frame rates so I have to export the video QT Ref separately with a stereo audio mixdown and then export an audio only sequence as a QT ref without checking audio mixdown. I can then marry the 16 discrete audio tracks with the Video QT ref using QT Pro 7. That just happens to be the devil I know for that part of the process. Now because I'm making myself more familiar with AME I then take that QT Ref into AME and back to XDCam50 having AME add pulldown. The problem is the resulting file is non drop frame and I have to deliver a drop frame file. This is where I'm running into obstacles trying to change the time code to drop frame. The other subtle issue that crops up is that now the network demands, for no apparent reason other than stubbornness, that we have a full minute of bars and tone. Sounds easy but when you factor in how starting a 58;30;00 drop frame the resulting pull down addition in Avid no longer falls on an A frame at one hour. The result is the A frame is now at 1;00;00;02. Visually not the end of the world but when the slate and first frame now fall on a C frame there are split frame issues that the QC folks have a field day with.
Now I would welcome any advice regarding Sorenson. I've used it in the past but never got deep into it. Will it allow me to take an Avid QT Ref DNX_175X with 16 tracks of audio and spit out a Quicktime wrapped .mov in XDCam50 422 with drop frame time code. And if so how does it handle pulldown given what I already mentioned above?

I restart to my normal drive with the problem AME 2014. After restart I launch AME and it gets up to the QTBundle thingy and stops then after about 10 second voila it opens up with all my existing presets still in place. That's good but WTF happen yesterday. I restarted sooooo many times and reinstalled what could possible explain with all the stuff I tried it didn't launch yesterday?

Subject: [Avid-L2] Adobe Media Encoder won't launch?Okay this is an Avid forum but now that I'm incorporating Adobe Media Encoder into my workflow, as others here do, I figure it's a good place to ask how to fix AME. I plan on getting in touch with Adobe Chat support tomorrow but here's the problem.I am exporting Avid 23.976 QT Ref files with DNX-175X media and 16 channels of audio. Then I use Adobe Media Encoder to add pulldown and bake XDCAm50 422 QT files with 16 channels of audio. This has been working great although occasionally AME just drops an audio track or 4 on export. A reexport with the same setting and the audio is all there. Tonight a last minute QC note came in after I had started baking out four files that was going to take 7 hours according the AME. I hit quit on AME and I got a prompt about if I wanted to quit. I clicked yes and AME churned for 30 seconds and then quit. I then went into Avid and remade all four QT ref files with the final pixel fix. Once all that was done I went to launch AME but it stalled at "Loading Exporter QuickTimeHost Bundle. I forced quit retried but again a stall. Sometime is stalled there and other times it got to loading a user/desktop/folder name etc... which looked like the desktop folder I had the QT Ref files in when I quit out earlier as mention.I restarted several times, rebuilt permissions, and uninstalled and reinstalled AME twice, once keeping preferences and the 2nd time not keeping preference. Nothing got it to launch. I launched Photoshop without issue and after googling tried holding down shift while launching AME as some threads said that would clean AME's slate when launching. Nothing worked. Finally I went to a second startup drive with AME 2015 and fortunately that worked although I had to rebuild my presets.Anybody know any tricks besides uninstalling or holding shift down, I think the shift trick might be for PCs and not macs but I don't really know. I saw people talk about reinstalling Premiere Pro or maybe even after effects but I didn't get to that because I had to get the files cooking. My last two attempts at launching the 2014 AME seemed to stall at the QuicktimeHost Bundle stuff. I'm wondering if that is some core part of the Adobe programs they may have become corrupted. I don't know what I could have done as I haven't added any plugins from the time it was working till it stopped.Tomorrows another day and I'll just call the 24 hour come right to your door Adobe support swat team, oh wait this is Adobe so I'm basically on my own. HELP!!!!! ;-)John Moore Barking Trout Productions Studio City, CA bigfish@...
