There have been a few different threads regarding issues with Black Magic cards that when doing a digital cut there is a frame of black at the start of every edit. To the best of my knowledge and several emails with Mr. Bogdan that is still the case. I've had some Avid folks tell me that it's not a problem with the right combo of Video Desktop Software but no one has ever confirmed this has been fixed for me. Is anyone running a DNxIO on a mac system and making proper video insert edits without a frame of black and a one frame offset from the timeline? I tried some of the suggestions Mr. Bogdan had after working with Avid tech where you edit the deck template in regards to offset or frame/field delay. I don't recall the exact syntax but I did try it on my home system where I have a NitrisDX and a BM SDI card and those adjustments made no change in behavior on my system with an SR 5500 I had briefly.
I'm asking this because we have a True 4K project coming in and they are thinking of updating my bay for 4K. To me that means a DNxIO etc... but losing the ability to make proper digital cuts would be a downside as most of our shows are HD and still require HDCam or SR tapes along with files. Anybody got a working DNxIO that they use to do digital cuts?
