I forgot to mention when I lose access to the mxf ama plugin in the pulldown menu I can still mount by volume an XDCam disk in a U2 drive and that works. Usually it's only when I'm trying to check exported XDCam50 mxf files that I notice the mxf choice is missing because I can't ama link to the Avid exported XDCam 50 files without manually selecting mxf as the ama plugin choice.

Unrelated to your particular problem I've had a few voodoo instances in the last few months with things disappearing and reappearing or not working and then working when nothing changed on the system. These issues have happened on my home system and work system both 12 core mac pros. Mine is mid 2012 OS 10.8.5 and work is a upgraded mac pro, probably 2010 upgraded to 12 core 3.33.Ghz also OS 10.8.5.
On my home system all of a sudden my normal user settings didn't work several months back. I restored both from backup hard drives and a flash drive but nothing would work. I made new settings merging some of my settings into the new user and all was fine. This was after several reboots to try and make my original setting work. After working for an hour and a half with the new user I finished my work and tried my original settings that had been reimported several time and voila they worked. WTF? Then about 3 weeks ago the same thing happened and the next day without doing anything they worked again. WTF?
Now I've posted about my work system seems to lose the avid auto installed mxf ama plugin. I've had it disappear at least 3 times. The plugin still appears in the ama plugin folder and removing it and installing a saved version has not effect. The only solution has been to empty the ama plugin folder and then reinstall Avid. I had access to the mxf ama plugin after that and it worked two weeks ago but this week it is no longer there. I'm not sure if it has come and gone over time but I'm pretty sure I checked for mxf as a choice in the ama pulldown menu and it wasn't there a month ago and then it was there two weeks ago and no this week it's gone again. All the while I can see the plugin in the ama plugin folder. This has happened at least 3 times in the last several months on this system. I can't be the only one that this has happened to. I wonder if this disappearing behavior could some how tie into your transcode problems as it might be involving ama plugin options? My work system is Avid SNCD 6.5.4.7 and my home system is MC 8.3.1 with symphony option.
It's getting down right spooky so I'm wondering if there is some weird thing that is making these computers just lose access to certain files intermittently. Very hard to track down. For the missing ama plugins I've done the suggested archive of the fully function ama plugin folder but replacing the mxf plugin doesn't solve the issue when it arrises. Only an Avid reinstall after stripping the ama plugin folder seems to work. Maybe my next step later today should be to actually remove the whole ama plugins folder so when Avid reinstalls it will make a new folder and auto install the mxf plug in and the AS02 plugin.

Ha ha, Job. ;)
So here's a weird thing. After running more tests today to try to isolate the problem, everything is now working fine again. :\ I know, I know, you say something must've changed, and I agree, but for the life of me I can't find anything different from yesterday.
