Yes, for a simple real-time solution we use screen sharing in Skype. Get a virtual audio mixer like Voicemeeter to send your Avid sound with your headset mic and you're set.

What might work is Team Viewer, where the client could see my desktop as I work, but I'm not sure he can hear a sequence play on his computer (VOIP) while I am playing it on mine. Simultaneous audio transmission might work over a telephone line, but gets a little cumbersome.
