In one of my upcoming Art of the Cut interviews, I speak to a feature film editor about the critical importance of more than 24 tracks of audio. Maybe Avid should by ProTools and then the audio features would port over… oh wait… they did that (bought them) and they didn't (port over.)
More than just for feature films, but there are so many people that need these tracks for reasons other than just "being crazy" or "not planning."
Doubling would help, to 48 tracks (stereo) but 96 would be even better. Sending stuff to ProTools is also not the solution. We need the tracks IN EDITING so we can MANAGE the entire post pipeline. The old Avid slogan "Play Together" needs to start with MC.

I'm waiting eagerly for more than 24 tracks of audio in MC. If that's part of an 8.5 I'll be doing my happy dance up and down the streets of Burbank.

Has anyone heard anything about the status of 8.5 release? I had originally heard December, but it has been crickets. I have a stack of laptops we want to use that only run 10.11. Has anyone tried 8.4.5 on 10.11 to see if it will work or what problems there are with it?
Thanks,
Scott
