Besides a turntable that can run at 78 rpm, plus a mono cartridge with a stylus shape suited to 78s, you might need a special phono preamp with an older RIAA curve to get the best sound quality.


I'd find a local audiophile club and ask if there are members with a 78 rpm turntable setup. Most clubs around the country include lots of vinyl nuts. The biggest vinyl guru is Michael Fremer at Analog Planet (who was a sound editor early in his career). You could ask him for a recommendation in your area. http://www.analogplanet.com
