Re: [Avid-L2] Adobe Premiere ProResHQ Exports?

As fate would have it I just got a software update prompt for the Pro Video Formats 2.0.3 update.  It lists that if includes support for ProRes.  Now I still have my original question about whether this will allow Avid to export a ProRes in the traditional manner that involved the QT engine.  "Support For" could just mean that playback of ProRes but not creating prores files.  All my systems have FCP so I don't run into ProRes issues like my AEs do when trying to export.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Adobe Premiere ProResHQ Exports?

Due to a lack of ProApps software on our AE stations they have been incapable of exporting ProRes HQ files.  I know there is a trick to mixdown in Avid to ProResHQ and then export same as source.  Yesterday I found one of the AE's using Premiere to export an Avid exported sequence to make it ProRes HQ. Does Adobe have an agreement with Apple to use ProRes that is different from Avid?  Strangely I found myself exporting to ProResHQ from premiere just yesterday but in my case it was a project done in premiere from prores sources.  I found when I tried to AMA link to the resulting file Avid said I needed an ama plugin for this.  I then ama linked to another ProResHQ file I had and that one worked.  I then went back to the premiere exported file and it worked.  Today I took an Avid ProRes seqeunce that I made from yesterdays premiere exported ProRes file that I ama'd too and consolidated into Avid.  When I exported that as same as source I ended up with a file that was prores accord to QT 7 but then when I tried to ama back into Avid to check the file I got the same ama plugin prompt as yesterday.  I went back and rendered two things in the sequence, a wipe and a black title and re exported from Avid that file then properly ama'd back into Avid.

So how come Adobe can export to ProRes on a system with no Pro Apps installed and is there  anything funky about the ProRes Premiere exports?
