Re: [Avid-L2] OT: The Terence & Philip show

Found this in the Resolve 9 help file.  Perhaps this relates to the issue of having multiple instances of the same clip being color corrected differently at different points in the timeline.  I had thought this check box just made Resolve bake out the new media with V1, V2, V3 etc... with the V number describing the shot number in the timeline with V1 first shot, V2 2nd shot and so on.  This tip in the help manual seems to suggest it avoids confusing when multiple instances of the same clip occur.

From Resolve Help .pdf, from Resolve 9:

    4.    make sure you leave the Output Options checkbox "Render Clip with Unique Filename" turned on. This ensures that each clip rendered has a different file name as multiple clips in the edited sequence may originate from the same source clip.

Thank you for giving me your thoughts. This is fantastic information.

So far importing the media database to connect to the resolve renders has been the answer to avoid any consolidation problems, that I have seen thus so far. So I would love to see what you are seeing being locked out of any avid native commands. I specially tested this workflow to avoid errors.

The media names of mxf renders should be rendered to new numbered folders, as versions. So I will think about what you and John are telling me. Thank you both for your time.

This workflow was designed to facilitate a Reality TV fast passed workflow. For flashbacks, and reusing same media with different color, is why I have had to have a different invention workflow. I think about how to incorporate them both, because in theory, the relink selected avid command is designed to preserve versions.
