Re: [Avid-L2] Most stable?

Not sure if i get this...
Does the track assignment also not work when mono files are named file_1.wav file_2.wav etc?

(But i never worked with perf slip, no clue how to go about it, and since digital sound 'perfs' are 1 sample i think it's a bit of an archaic way of looking at things these days....)

What do you mean by 'per channel content descriptor' ?
A Poly BWF has one track, thus one BEXT entry.
However, this entry can contain a TRK entry for each channel.
(eg, sTrk1=Lav sTrk2=Boom etc.)
That shows up in Avid (and probably gets lost after subclipping.)

If the  iXML is a problem, it's not that hard to extract the XML and re-format it as an ALE.
And you said Cantar brings a tool like that. What's wrong with that then?
(I'm on 8.3 win, but mostly deal with BWF for developing, hardly any actual work, let alone complicated workflows...)

AFAIK, File->Import totally ignores iXML metadata, only looks at the BEXT. That in itself is stupid enough as it is.

AMA-linking to audio is not an option, as it disables Perf Slip, which is a necessity.

Poly cannot have a per-channel content descriptor, or at the very least, when importing Poly, MC only 'takes' the metadata for the first track, happily ignoring the metadata fields on any other track.

Been goin back and forth with them about this and eventually it got fixed.

This is all part of a widely used workflow, that has been in place for many years now, so breaking it is very undesirable, and workarounds would break consistency.

What happens if you strip the ixml metadata and only have the bext info, and the underscoreX assignment in the file name?

And, for your work Poly should be an option.
