I just checked out some of the information here. You still can't really tell if they made a profit (although it looks as if Hernandez and a couple other suits gave themselves nice raises and stock options (see SEC doc below), but what I found interesting was that Avid claimed upwards of 100,000 registered for PT and MC First, the free versions. And, it seems to read this way, only 8,000 signed on for the subscription service. I must be reading this wrong. I assumed a much higher number. Perhaps this is new customers? Even if each of those 8,000 spent $600 on rent and support, that only comes out to $4.8 million. From the release:

- Over 100,000 new users have already pre-registered for Media Composer and Pro Tools First
- Approximately 8,000 active paid Media Composer and Pro Tools subscribers
