Re: [Avid-L2] Cine Deck does insert Edits? Somebody Pinch me

Took a trip to Rhode and Schwrz.  Venice does not do insert edits and is more expensive.  They said they are working on it but not yet.  I also confirmed that the base Cine Deck with 2 channels can be configured with one channel input and one channel output.  The output channel can be configured to read the file being written, just like the confidence head on a tape deck.  The playback delay will vary depending on the codec.  ProRes was said to take about 3 frames to chunk and then something like 3 frames of decode.  Dnx would have a shorted playback delay so that seems workable to me.

The CTO of Cine Deck did say that the preview output is based on the decoded SDI input so if it doesn't show a glitch it's highly unlikely the resulting file would.  Given my need for confidence the base unit still has the 2nd channel to work in a read after write type of mode so I don't have to play the whole show back after a digitial cut.

you really need to go over the Rohde & Schwarz booth in the South hall and take a look at Venice. Its way better than the Cinedeck ;-)
