Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Importing descriptions of cues from music library

The problem with Aiff may be that AFAIK there is no id3 equivalent, so there is no way to add additional metadata to those files, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for this Agustin! It does solve the problem as long as I use MP3s instead of AIFs.  Excellent tip!

I wish the AMA plugin for AIFs had a similar capability.

If the files you are downloading have the metadata inside an ID3 tag, this AMA plugin may help you:

Mighty List,

The short version: I'm looking for the smart way to bring descriptive
data about music cues from an excel sheet into a bin of imported music
cues.

The long version: I've started a project that is using the APM library.
(I'm just getting up to speed on how they do things.)

Once I have a list of tracks I am able to download them as a group and
there is an included csv file containing the metadata for each track
including a column for description.

I then import the cues into the Avid. I'd like to keep the information
from the description column of the metadata csv file associated with its
corresponding track.

I tried exporting an ALE, adding the description column and data in
excel, saving as tab delimited text and then trying to convert that back
into an ALE in the ALE program. I get an error "unable to clean file."

Searching online there seems to be some incompatibility between a saved
excel tab delimited txt file and the ALE program. (I saw something about
extra returns.)

What's the smart way to do this? (Hire an AE to copy and paste each
description into each cue in the bin?)

Thanks,

Dan
