OK, here's what the deal is. I had downloaded the current Updater file and updated the dongle , but there is a
catch 22. There was no AvidApplicationManger. Only the dongle manager, so I used that. And then got the error message.
when I quit and restarted, low and behold,
there was the AvidApplicationManger.
Clicked Licensing, browsed to the updater file and updated again.
Avid 8 opens.
