Re: [Avid-L2] Does Rendering a Matte Key Graphic in After Effects to DNX invert the alpha channel?

Well that's what I'm seeing so I guessed correctly.  Now I'm seeing they converted some of the Exported matte keys into "Apple Animation" which seems to be a much smaller file but get info in QT 7 says they are millions+ so I guess they still have alphas.  I have no idea why someone converted the files other than perhaps they needed them to play on a computer without the DNX codec.  Man the misconception that anyone can just take these elaborate AE graphics projects and modify them easily for new names etc... is starting to wear on me.  Tomorrow I'll probably get some graphics that were done overnight by the janitorial staff, and I in no way mean to dis or janitorial staff they do a great job at the janitorial stuff, but it seems like they are next in line to work on the graphics for our series.  ;-(  Some days I have soooooo much help I'll never get done.  Thanks for the AE info.

Using the DNX codec creates alphas the way avid likes them (no invert needed)

Using animation codec usually needs inverting.  Not sure about ProRes 4444, but probably the same.

The vast majority of graphics I get from After Effects are at RGB level and I invert the alpha on import and everything works fine.  I inherited an AE project for a series I'm doing and I created an export setting for Avid DNX 220 with Alpha straight key.  I find when I import these graphics I don't have to invert the alpha on import.  I'm curious why they aren't like most AE graphics I get.  Does AE know to invert the Alpha channel when exporting to Avid DNX codec or is there just something about how the AE project is handling the alpha that is inverting the alpha before it gets into Avid?
