We are pleased to announce that the latest version of the 7.x/11.x code base - Media Composer 7.0.4.2 ( Mac and PC ), NewsCutter 11.0.4.2 (PC) will go live on the Download Center at 3:00 pm ET.
These maintenance releases are located on the Download Center (login and password required) and the full installers are located in the Media Composer | Software folder and the patch installer in the Avid Editor Patch Folder.
These latest update – available today, January 12th, 2015 at 3:00 pm ET - are available at no charge for customers running Media Composer v7.0.x or NewsCutter v11.0.x, respectively.
Whats included: Included in these updates are a number of bug fixes, including:
- Bins opened in later versions of Media Composer | Software (like v8.3) might cause the application to crash when opened in earlier versions of Media Composer (like 7.0.4). This has been fixed.
- In some instances, opening sequences would take a long time when Dynamic Relink was on. This has been fixed.
- Support for the NVIDIA driver v340.84
- Support for Mac OS v10.10.1
ReadMe: The ReadMe for these releases is available for download along with the installers. Please make sure you encourage community members to read the ReadMe prior to downloading and installing.
Documentation: Please see the final ReadMe and Install Guide on the Media Composer 7 Documentation page to ensure you have the proper system configurations and appropriate installation instructions.
Installers: Notes on the Mac and PC installers.
- Mac - This is a full version of the editing application. You should uninstall the previous version from your system before you install Media Composer v7.0.4.2.
- Windows Patch Installers - Patch installers are designed to install on systems with v7.0.4 currently installed.
Important Notes:
1. Windows users - To avoid "File Path too long" or a "File cannot be copied" warning while unzipping the downloaded installer, place the installer .zip file on the root level of your C:\ drive and unzip it from that location.
2. Yosemite only - Customers with dual 6 core Mac Pro towers (Westmere) and the 2013 Mac Pro with a single 12 core CPU may experience performance issues with transcode, render, and playback. These degradations are typically seen with higher resolution material. The issue has been logged with Apple and we are awaiting an update.
