7.4.1 as well? Because I knew there was a bug in 8.2 so I switched to that version to do the import. The thing is though, my co editor is on 8.1 and it wouldn't work either - though her skills when it comes to subcaps and other advanced avid techniques are not the best, so I won't be definite about it being buggy.
I ended up switching to 5.5.5 (I knew there was a reason to keeping that Snow Leopard partition on my Mac), and was able to import with no hassle and have my final sequence subtitled.
The subtitle bug in 8.2 has been escalated a while back and no fix yet. Also, Avid promised an update for 4K editing before the end of the year... What is happening in the support department? :-)
